A little about me…
I was born in a small village in Liberia during the country’s first civil war. My mother and I sought refuge in Nigeria, where we binge-watched old Nollywood and Bollywood films, listened to Fela Kuti, and ate copious amounts of coconut rice with suya.
After returning to Liberia, I helped my aunts with their food carts and started a small produce business with my grandma. I later emigrated to the United States and spent the rest of my adolescent years exploring Sacramento, California. I later met a handsome guy (who also grew up on a farm) from Fresno, California, fell in love, dropped out of college, and traveled the country with him.
After dropping out of college and leaving California, I planned to open a West African restaurant in upstate New York. I wanted to feature traditional West African staples like fufu and pepper soup, and fuse those classics with interesting flavors in the United States, Asia, South America, and other parts of the world.
But that plan fell through, so I started a food blog instead. Several years and many adventures later, my West African Fusion food concept lives on as The Fufu Café.
When I'm not cooking, gardening, or hiking, I design websites for other food content creators at Morse Creatives, my design studio. Stick around for more, and let's keep in touch!
